Managing Change and Making it Stick
Engaging with the Underlying Dynamics of Change
Leaders who wish to deal effectively with these paradoxes need to:
- raise their awareness and understanding of the underlying dynamics of the change process and, in particular, of the impact that their own language and behaviour has on people's perceptions, interpretations and evaluations of what's going on
- actively engage with these dynamics, to help people make sense of what's going on - and to make value-adding use of the sense they make
- take responsibility for using their power in organisationally beneficial ways
- work to achieve mobility in people and their relationships, to encourage and enable progress to be made in the desired direction
Can We Help?
Organisational change is arguably the key leadership challenge facing businesses today. We aim to help organisations to understand and engage more effectively with it by:
- introducing alternative perspectives and approaches for dealing with the complexity of change and identifying pathways through it
- sharing insights into the dynamics of organisations and, in particular, the impact of sense-making conversations, informal coalitions and shadow-side dynamics on performance outcomes; and
- seeking to avoid the false promises and short-lived benefits that result from the adoption of fast-food 'solutions'.
If you would like to find out more about any of the above, or to explore how we may be able to help you manage your changes more effectively, please get in touch.
