Issue-Based Workshops
Issue-based workshops offer a valuable way of addressing a wide range of business issues, such as business strategy, leadership performance, team dynamics and organisational development. These will be designed to best meet the needs of the client and the issue(s) being focused upon. For example, the workshops can:
- be largely free-form - to surface and address key issues, organisational blockages, learning points etc;
- be set within the context of one of the client's own frameworks or processes;
- be structured around one of the Consultancy's proprietary models or frameworks;
- use an established management model, tool or technique to provide the desired structure for the workshop.
In issue-based workshops, consultancy support is typically provided in the form of collaborative design of the workshop format and informed facilitation of the event. The latter includes constructive challenge, based upon many years of experience in management and industry, not simply passive facilitation of the process.
Examples of previous issue-based workshops include:
- enabling organisations and groups to explore key aspects of strategic management and to provide a basis for strategy development, organisational change and performance management;
- facilitating inter-organisational workshops, to develop strategies and action plans around high-profile and politically sensitive industry issues
- reshaping the organisation and addressing issues of culture and climate;
- exploring the creation of strategic alliances between clients and prospective partners, in joint workshops;
- using an "appreciative inquiry" approach to identify and build upon organisational strengths;
- developing proposals for divesting existing assets and creating new business development options;
- improving the effectiveness of management teams and resolving conflicts;
- exploring process problems and improving process performance;
- capturing learning from a technological development project.
